Homemade Garlic Yogurt Sauce
Ingredients :
– 250 g of natural Greek yogurt
– 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil
– Fresh juice of one lemon
– 2 cloves of garlic, minced
– Sea salt, to your taste
Instructions :
1. In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic and sea salt.
2. Add 1 tablespoon of water to thin the sauce slightly. Add more water if necessary, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.
3. Season to taste.
4. Store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Additional Tips:
– Use full-fat Greek yogurt for a creamy texture and richer flavor. You can, however, use fat-free or low-fat Greek yogurt if you prefer.
-For a milder flavor, substitute crushed roasted garlic for the fresh garlic. Start with one clove of garlic and add more to taste.
– Add fresh herbs to bring a refreshing touch to the sauce. 2 tablespoons of herbs like dill, cilantro, parsley, basil, or mint would be delicious here.
– You can also replace the lemon juice with lime juice for a different flavor. Add a little lime zest if you want a stronger flavor.
– This garlic yogurt sauce goes well with many dishes. It’s particularly delicious with Middle Eastern-inspired dishes, like falafel or chickpea shawarma wraps.
Remember to store the sauce in the refrigerator in an airtight container and use it within 5 days of preparation. Enjoy this creamy and tasty sauce to enhance your meals in no time!
